Why compare them? Why? Johnny does many covers and his voice add something wonderful to any song. He could sing nelly and make it sound amazing. It's his soft, country gravelly trawl that hit you right in the heart when you hear his voice, but he chooses the songs he covers carefully for their quality. In this he turned the meaning as the original Depeche (which I bought after hearing this) was, I guess being ironic, but not when Cash sings it. Beautiful. Peace.

Johnny Cash does a great job with this but it belongs to the MODE...
